Event Information

The MSC is delighted that Britannia Royal Naval College is hosting this year’s European Naval Academies Superintendents' Conference and that Captain Andy Bray of BRNC has asked us to partner with his team to deliver the programme. The conference seeks to share ideas and best practices around how European nations train their naval officers and why we all do so in our unique ways. The conference also aims to build collaboration and exchange between Europe’s naval academies and Professional Military Education in general.

Day 1 Tuesday 1 July

Time Session
6.30pm

BRNC Transport from The Dartmouth Hotel (TDH) and Dart Marina Hotel (DMH).

Transport will be provided from TDH and DMH only. Transport will leave from outside the hotels Main Entrances. If you are accommodated elsewhere in Dartmouth, BRNC will be no more than a 10-minute gentle stroll.

6.45pm

Main Gate opens for delegates arriving on foot.

Delegates will be met by members of the BRNC Duty Paty and escorted to Captain BRNC’s House. Please arrive no later than 1855.

7pm-9.10pm

BRNC Opening Reception held in Captain BRNC’s Garden. Refreshments and food will be provided.

9.15pm

BRNC Transport to The Dartmouth Hotel (TDH) and Dart Marina Hotel (DMH).

Transport will return delegates staying at TDH and DMH. Transport will leave from outside Captain BRNC’s House.

“The Leadership Challenge: culture, values, and behaviours – What is needed, and how do we train and select it?”

A panel discussion will take place with representatives from USNA, École Navale and MSM.

Discussion Points:

  • The latest thoughts on our Navies’ culture and behavioural framework.
  • How do we generate the leaders we need?
  • Do we believe the product is ready for future maritime challenges?
  • What are the challenges and opportunities to learn from each other?

Disembark Vahanas at Kingswear Pontoon.

BRNC Duty Party will escort to the Royal Dart Yacht Club.

Supper at Royal Dart Yacht Club

Return to Dartmouth via the Lower Ferry.

Tickets for a Foot Passenger for the Lower Ferry cost £2.50 (card only). Tickets are purchased on board.
